I would like to reinstall the standard Windows Media Player 12 codecs, but can't seem to find how to do that. I believe that some software I installed (iTunes) or uninstalled (Nokia Music Manager), has made changes to my default Windows 7 installed codecs so that they no longer work. Can you see any? If there are any, how do I uninstall them? The "Using codecs" site you're referring to, I can't see to find any codecs for Windows 7 圆4 available there. I don't think I have any special codec packs installed. Among them is the "DMO MP3 Decoder DMO 0055 mp3dmod.dll. Has anyone got any ideas as might what have happened? And is there anything I can do to reinstall/reactivate the nonworking codecs? Best regards, Yngvar JohnsenĪrthur, I have the codecs installed as listed below. I've tried to remove all media applications from Windows 7 using optionalfeatures.exe, and then reinstalling them, with no change in behavior. It seems to me that either Nokia Music Manager or Apple iTunes have messed up my codecs when uninstalling/installing. VLC media player and iTunes are able to play all files that WMP is unable to play with no problems.
The Media Center application behaves in the same manner. Neither C:\Users\Public\Music\Sample Music\Sleep Away.mp3, C:\Users\Public\Videos\Sample Videos\Wildlife.wmv or any other of the mp3 and wmv samples will play, giving me the same error. Some files still play though, for instance the C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV\Sample Media\win7_scenic-demoshort_raw.wtv video sample. This is for standard mp3 and avi files as well as a bunch of other media file types. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.". The next time I started WMP to play music I got the error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. I installed Apple iTunes (and Quicktime) and uninstalled the Nokia Music Manager application (which had been with me from the Vista upgrade). The new media player got hold of all media files in my new Libraries, and was able to play almost every file I got, more than Vista used to, including regular mp3, avi and wmv files. The upgrade went smooth and everything worked as it should. Set your format back to NV12, output mode to Simple, and use the 'Indistinguishable' preset, along with the NVENC encoder.I upgraded my Windows Vista 圆4 installation to Windows 7 RTM 圆4 a few days back.

99.999% of those are full of absolute horseshit, and do significantly more harm than good. I have to ask, are you following some absolutely awful 'best settings' guide? Please don't. 1080p60 'wants' at least 12 megabit, and CBR is absolutely THE WORST encoding target to use for local recordings. Likewise, you are attempting to record CBR 2500kbps for 1080p60. Switch back to NV12 unless you have a specific reason to need I444 and the technical knowledge to compensate for the limitations it imposes. Your logfile indicates a fallback to CPU ffmpeg instead. This is not advised, and unsupported by NVENC. You also appear to be recording in I444 for some reason.

Record to FLV or MKV instead, and remux to MP4 if needed from OBS' File menu, Remux Recordings. If any issue occurs with the recording, it will be irrecoverably corrupted a pile of digital garbage that absolutely CAN NOT be restored. Recommend downloading VLC by VideoLAN and trying playback there.Īdditionally, you appear to be recording to mp4/mov. Windows Media Player is notorious for bad codec support.
